LUITE KLAVER 1870-1960
lythographs 1

Luite Klaver  produced many lythographs of flowers and plants for botanic books, such as the series "Plantentypen" by K.Siderius with pendrawings by Luite Klaver edited by S.L.van Looy, Amsterdam,1899-1905 ), or the album from 19054 by Ritzema Bosch.
These delicate lythographs show his love and  knowledge of plants. Every single drawing is a small masterpiece of composition, form and colour emanating a whiff of mystery.

You have to look at japanese woodblock prints, the ukyoo ee,  to find botanic drawings of this level. Luite collected these prints and was influenced by them.
