. Quotes in the Media May 26, 2004 Car Noise, Car Alarm, Cacophony The New York Times By Dan Barry [ | ] The written word can never do justice to the early-morning wail of a car alarm.. This is because car alarms are designed not to blend in with other urban ambient noises: the truck rumbles, the yipping dogs, the no-longer-amusing domestic squabbles of others.. The devices' many critics say that the alarms have minimal impact on car thefts (though the police disagree); that other antitheft devices are more effective and less intrusive on society; and that their murderous wails contribute greatly to that ranking quality-of-life complaint, noise.. Friedman helped write last year, Transportation Alternatives went so far as to say that the "type of noise produced by car alarms boosts stress hormones and has been linked to cardiovascular disease, gastrointestinal illnesses, psychological problems and unhealthy fetal development." The report also estimated that the average city resident pays a car alarm "noise tax" of $100 to $120 a year.

Wired 8.10: Feel the Noise
. Feel the Noise In the belly of "The Beast, " behind pressure-sealed doors and a blastproof windshield 3 inches thick, lies a 48-speaker, 175-decibel, 48, 000-watt sound system eight times louder than a 747.. If you walked up to a 747 at maximum thrust and stuck your head inside an engine, the noise would blast through your eardrums and fry the tiny cilia lining your auditory canal.. Obviously, this is not the typical bass-booming joyrider that cruises America's streets, collecting noise-pollution tickets and annoying people at stoplights.. This rule says a vehicle's exhaust noise must not be "noticeably or significantly" louder than manufacturers intended.. Transport Safety Minister Harry Duynhoven said noise meters would be imported in the next few weeks and the ministry was finalising locations.. The objective noise test will be followed by a new rule setting maximum noise limits for different vehicle types under section 7.4 of the Land Transport Road User Rule 2004.. Noise control lobby group Noise Off has called for a 90 decibel limit on exhausts.

Nationwide Used Car Sale Welcome Guest Topic: NEW MUSTANG NOISE on 16 October 2002 at 3:05pm - IP Logged Kehali United States 16 October 2002 2 Posts I've had my 2002 New Mustang 3.8 engine coupe in the garage 4 times for the same thing since I bought new Mustang in March.. First, there's noises coming from up under the left side of the car; the trunk had not been completed @ the factory so a body shop welded that but that didn't stop the rattling when i go over rough road.. Anyone have a thought as to what's going on? The Ford tech has even rode in the trunk for the noise, in the back seat w/out the seat, and still can't find it.. But I had one of Ford's techicians ride with me Tues, he heard the noise and saw the "surging" or lunge while we were stopped at a red light.. But they already said the surging was an idle control valve, which they replaced, and now for the want of not knowing what else to do, they've ordered shocks! for the car to take care of the noise.
