. My Dad was a HUGE Mitch Shirra fan and our Ford Cortina Estate car was covered in Mitch Shirra stickers.. Remember the chant? We saw Ole Olsen's van on the way home one night and my dad hammered the car to overtake him and Ole laughed and laughed.. They were mostly good times, and memories that still stick in my mind are an horrific crash for Ron Mountford, with his bike cartwheeling up the home straight, the departure of Jim Lightfoot to Long Eaton, a superb team ride by Col Cottrell and Tom Ridley, and the England v Russia Test match at Brandon.. To see him appear in so many people's all-time teams brought a big smile to my face, and made me said to recall a promising career cut short by injury.. In 1966 I missed the special double decker bus, after a stock-car race.. I also remember the Coventry ARMOURED CAR used for towing stock car wrecks.. It was an army scout car.. Hey, and Warwickshire pubs closed at 10.30pm but Northants pubs stayed open till 11 on Saturday nights, so it was a scary rush to get back over the border for a quick pint! NIGEL NORRIS I have been watching speedway on and off at Brandon since 1960.

Military vehicles made by Crossley Motors after 1918
. Thesewere mainly bodied as tenders, staff cars and ambulances.. With peace, production at the factory returned principally tocar making but there was a major side line in refurbishing exmilitary vehicles, mainly at the now Crossley owned AVRO works, andthese continued to be advertised into the early 1920s.. The first post war military contract came almost by accident. The British Army in India had a requirement for Armoured Cars forareas such as the North West frontier.. All of these vehicles werefitted with solid tyres presumably to remove the risk of puncturesbut these were never very successful when used off road as theirnarrow profile inevitably led to the vehicle sinking up to its axles. Two of the armoured cars were also shipped to South Africa where thetyres also caused trouble and were eventually changed to pneumatictypes.. An Indian Armoured Car withVickers body showing the solid tyres used The Indian Army vehicle (IGL1) was used by Vickers from 1928 asthe basis for an armoured car that could be sold on the exportmarket.

Bloopers - Movie
. Source: Mike Geraghty And finally in the scene in the film when the Oil spilling contraption is demonstrated there is a continuity blooper in as much as when Jones runs towards the contraption (following the sighting of the General's car), the 1st shot shows a small oil puddle on the floor, the 2nd close-up shot of Jones' feet shows a slightly bigger oil spill, and the 3rd shot shows the road completely covered in oil! Thus demonstrating that within 3 seconds oil can spread like anything! Source: Mike Geraghty When Jones and Mainwaring drive into the field on the steam roller, the van breaks away from them.. Source: Hazel O'Neill When we first see Jones' "armoured car", and the section do their drill, Wilson calls for five rounds to the left, and the section simulate 3 shots ("Bang, 2, 3 Bang, 2, 3" etc).. Model Auto Review News
. Now the magazine publishing industry is re-visiting smaller formats, popular in earlier decades as 'digest size', and they have been successfully re-introduced to the mass magazine market, now called 'travel size', for ease of carrying and reading when on the move, plus being tidier to store on a bookshelf.. Further to my reply to John Quilter's letter on page 9425 of MAR 188 which asked about models of the Wolseley 1500 and Riley 1.5, Mike Stephens of Western Models asks, 'Surely Minimarque 43 also made 1:43 handbuilt models of this car?' Yes, they did, but I prefer to draw a veil over them.. The Hornby tinplate trains were sold off, poorly-conceived new products (slot cars, roller skates, even a hovercraft) wasted much-needed capital, and management was out of touch with the 'Swinging Sixties'.. The new management decided to close many existing departments and dispense with the services of respected Managing Director Joe Fallmann, all carried out while much of the management was away representing the company at the Nuremberg international trade fair.

film ick: Spider-Man Says Farewell To Euclid Avenue
. The Sandman had his sights set on an armoured car, and really, it seems to me that Spider-man shouldn't intervened, just followed at a safe distance, because in the kerfuffle, the two of them certainly made a lot of mess.. The armoured car didn't keep a hold of it's back door for the whole chase - gee, thanks, Spidey - so we got a good look at the Sandman, in stripy T-shirt, as he was doing his naughty crimes, right there, in the back of it.. Several cars were hit and smashed, any number of NY Taxi cabs collided, and ultimately the armoured car hit a Hicks Sanitation truck and flipped.. Of course, shooting it didn't go exactly to plan and at least eight extras had their cars damaged in two separate incidents, some only slightly, some moderately, and one or two seriously.. On accident seemed to be the fault of a big, heavy plate that stunt cars were moored to.. In the other accident, it looks as though a cable used to yank a car was unfortunately triggered early.
HISTORY OF DAIMLER
. DAIMLER HISTORY '''Daimler''' is a British marque of motor car since 1896 and is now a division of Jaguar Cars.. Origins of name Confusingly, the name ''Daimler'' is used by two completely separate groups of car manufacturers.. Both trace back to the German engineer Gottlieb Daimler, who patented an engine design in the late 1800s, built (together with Wilhelm Maybach) the first motorcycle in 1885 and the first 4-wheeled car in 1886.. This was the origin of the Daimler Motoren Gesellschaft, (meaning "Daimler Motor Company"), which built cars from the 1890s onwards, and also sold licenses of its designs and patents to others.. To avoid confusion and licensing troubles, the name Mercedes was adopted for the cars built by Daimler itself in the early 1900s, while the name ''Daimler'' was last used for a German built car in 1908.. In 1924, the "Daimler Motor Company" merged with Benz to form the Daimler-Benz car company which built Mercedes-Benz cars and trucks.. In 1896 Simms and Harry Lawson moved into car production in the city of Coventry as the "Daimler Motor Company".
