About of LIST OF SOLAR CAR TEAMS

SunTiger - The University of Missouri Solar Car Project

  • . Our goals are to promote community awareness of alternate energy resources and to develop engineering techniques by building and racing our solar car competitively against teams from other universities.

Principia Solar Car Team: North American Solar Challenge 2005
  • . In July 2005, teams will compete in a 2500 mile rayce from Austin, Texas to Calgary, Alberta! For more information on the 2005 North American Solar Challenge, please visit the American Solar Challenge website .
  • . Many of you have requested information about the teams that, unfortunately, did not pass scrutineering or did not qualify, and were therefore unable to enter the race.
  • . In Calgary, many thousands of people watched the teams cross the finish line.
  • . All of the teams that reached Medicine Hat last night ate breakfast together this morning - pancakes, sausage, OJ and coffee.
  • . All teams will then dash for Calgary - only 188.2 miles left in the race! Normally the staged starts begin at 9 am, but tomorrow they will begin at 8 am to allow enough time for all the teams to reach Calgary by the end of the race day.
  • . A special lane was set up just for the solar car teams! Each team member presented their proof of citizenship and Ra 6 whizzed across the border - a Principia first! Once into Canada, the race time clock started up again for the team.

Solar car Dispatch 1: Bunny suits, low-tech hacking and dialing for dollars
  • . Two years ago, in the American Solar Challenge from Chicago to Los Angeles, heavy rain caused many teams to fail their qualifiers.
  • . The University of Kentucky team was headed home, having missed out on the qualifier, but when they saw what had happened, they offered us their motor and motor controller! Camaraderie between teams is in the spirit of solar car racing, but UK went way beyond that.

Solar car Dispatch 2: Frayed nerves and all-nighters
  • . I grabbed a radio and headed for the official timer tent to time our car and pick up the chatter among other teams.
  • . His response, heard by all the teams in the tent: "Sorry, I just wanted to pass Stanford." By the end of Thursday, we had 156 laps, posted at fourth overall, third in stock class.
  • . (Stock class is limited by money, allowing teams with less funding to be competitive, while open class teams are free to spend any amount.) Amazingly, all four stock teams placed in the top five overall, with the University of Minnesota taking first as the only open class car.
  • . Officials screamed "Get your battery protection, sand and a shovel!" Other teams sprinted to the site with fire extinguishers.
  • . Still in third place, with the fourth and second place teams already packing up, we decided to join them.

  • . With our ever increasing extreme energy battery pack systems that are developed for these races, the solar-car teams over our history have found our range of cells extremely well suited for the harsh environment.
  • . Advanced Energy Solutions (AES) now offers teams these extreme energy battery systems with sponsorship packages.
  • . Just have a look at the list of prestigious teams that have used our advanced lithium battery systems for solar-car racing.

University of Calgary Solar Car Raycing Project
  • . The agenda for this meeting will include the project timeline, the delivery dates for each one of the teams, an outline of the conceptual design of the car and brief presentations from each one of the design teams on the conceptual designs they have investigated and the current design they have chosen.
  • . I encourage all users to add links to things they think would be a valuable resource to their team members, or other teams.
  • . Check out the new Forums where teams can communcate with eachother, and other interested parteis can see what is up with each project at any time.
