It is possible to visit both in
Cairo and in Assuan some places which are dear to the Comboni missionaries:
urban areas, religious sites and historical monuments. In spite of the
transformations which some have undergone, their original beauty has never been
lost.
OLD CAIRO. It is possible to visit the “Coptic-Orthodox convent” built on the
ruins of the “Maronite convent” which accommodated Comboni for a period of time.
CORDI JESU (Cairo). It is the first sanctuary in Africa dedi- dedicated to the
Heart of Jesus.
ASWAN. The few bones of Comboni found after the mahdist revolution were kept in
the church of Assuan for 60 years.
