The research

I always liked to know the place of orgin of  my surname: all I knew was that my grandfather was from Asigliano Vercellese and my grandmother was from Salasco, both little villages near Vercelli, Piedmont, Italy.

In the year 2001 I received an e-mail from Buenos Aires asking me something about Giovanni Lorio, born in Asigliano and moved with his family to South America at the end of XIX century. From here I began to compose a family tree with the names I knew. Subsequently I began an archive research to find more informations. The biggest documentation cames from Parish Archives of Asigliano where I found documents until XVII century. Many documents come from Historicals  Archives of Vercelli, from State Archives of Vercelli, from Parish Archives of Serravalle Sesia and from Municipal Archives of Serravalle Sesia and Asigliano.

Thanks a lot to Federico Bona, Maria Grazia Cagna, Patrizia Carpo, Anna Cerutti Garlanda and the staff of State Archives of Vercelli, Mario Coda, Antonio Dattrino,  Maria Rita Fonio,  Umberto Loreo,  Alessandra Lorio, Andre Lorio, Franco Lorio, Inés Lorio, Laura Lorio (Argentina), Maria Lorio,  Silvina Lorio, Carlo Luč, Piera Mazzone,  Ferdinanda Morera, Don Luciano Pasteris, Stella Maris Perez Corral, Don Guido Pezzana,   Veronica Sanchez, Sabine Schleichert, Andrea Selva, Marta Tyrrell, Donna Watkins .
