Fishing at Great Smoky Mountains National Park
. There are nearly 500 miles of fishable streams in the Smokies, from the upper prongs of Forney Creek at over 4, 000 feet to the mouth of Abrams Creek, where it spills into Chilhowee Lake at less than 900 feet.. Five Great Smoky Fishing Adventures Cades Cove The Horseshoe Upper Abrams Creek, which flows out of the wide valley of Cades Cove, is a favorite stream with locals.. The rocks are notoriously slick, but the scenery is very rewarding as the creek leaves the trail and loops around a steep ridge cloaked in pine and mountain laurel.. Cosby/Greenbrier Porters Creek Porters Creek is better known for its spring wildflower displays than angling opportunities.. The Porter's Creek Trail makes for ideal access on this rainbow trout stream that is surprisingly little-fished.. Fontana Lake Area Hazel Creek Hazel Creek has been lauded in sporting magazines for a century and it doesn't disappoint.. Consider camping overnight at one of the many backcountry campsites set along the creek.

Goose Creek Symphony Fish Stories . As I walk from one Run to another, I reflect back and get a flash of Goose Creek.. Long ago and far away, deep in the Appalachian hills of southeast Kentucky, I was born and raised in a hollow called Goose Creek.. I think the first thing in my life with the fish that I can remember, was when one of my older cousins came up the lane with some Chub Minners (Minnows), that he had caught with a hook, string, and a willow branch, down in Goose Creek.. The next encounter that I can remember was being at the creek down behind Ray McComas's barn.. I was with someone (but can't remember who), and we were either trying to catch minners with our hands, or were just watching them in the little pool in Goose Creek.. Goose Creek was very small, only about 1-2 miles long.. We crossed the small field to a much larger pool on Goose Creek.. After that my parents moved to Eastern (small community) down on Beaver Creek.. It was a much larger creek and had real fish in it, not just minners.

WDNR - Open the Outdoors - Accessible Fishing on Coon Creek
Accessible Fishing on Coon Creek ...Not just another fish story Where can you fish if you're life is tied to a wheelchair? Many people, young and old, have found some answers, and one in particular is a story of many people and organizations coming together for the good of all.. Coon Creek is on land donated by a Coon Valley family and that was the beginning of a great fish story.. The original idea and energy to create the Coon Creek Accessible Fishing Area can be traced to three Vietnam Veterans and their dreams to find spots where the three could fish.. The DOT representatives saw the possibilities for the Coon Creek site to become accessible, but they needed help for many aspects of the project.. With this much combined energy, fishing along the Coon Creek soon became open to all who wanted to fish, whether on their feet or on their wheels.. Soon a paved path with pullouts along the newly routed creek were planned with funds being raised for the paving of the path, for the paving of the parking lot and for the installation of accessible restrooms were under way.
