BAND BIOGRAPHY

I’m not there to give you a complete description of this band carrier, but I will start from the album that have seriously added something new and valuable in the metal history and I’m speaking of "Tales from the 1000 lakes" (Vote 8.5). From the roots of the Swedish Death-Metal Amorphis melt some folkish finish elements with others original synths parts. Parts. The result is a melodic album, sometimes reminding to heavy melodies and others to death pounding moods, and a sort of dreaming atmosphere there and there emerges. With that album I listen to tales of ancient superstition with an enchanted and dreaming background, under a surrounding of stars, and the artwork of the cd is very representative.

"Elegy" (Vote 9) is the title of the "Tales" follower, an album that captures the better dreaming feelings of Tales to transform them in a more melancholic and psychedelic scenario. For Sure "Elegy" is a deeper work, very emotive a re-elaboration of themes from other non-metal contest with their background, less present, mixed and filtrated in this vortex of visions. Listen to "Elegy" is always a strange and interesting experience, original.

Differently I remained extremely disappointed by their "Tuonela" (Vote 5) a strange creature, too much psychedelic and not very visionary like the previous masterpiece. Amorphis have turned in something that have nothing to do with their musical evolution, a radical change without the same musical quality of the past, and without any logical connection, as if there was an album or two missed…before "Tuonela", and I can’t understand that rockish attitude of their actual sound
