STATEMENT
As you know in the last months and years glorious names like Emperor, Limbonic Art and Immortal in those days have split leaving a strange echo for the young conscious newcomers but also and much more for those who know their music for the beginning or from the days they were at their best.
Immortal like I’m saying is the last
of there names and probably is the one ot those who have declared to the world
how they were really "Damned in Black", how they where the "Sons
of Northern Darknes" and so went the photos in the typical but probably too
studied black belts, face-painting and so on image. Well let me tell you that in
my way of thinking this one was a very pathetic show, they were probably trying
to keep alive a spirit but with a very audible lack of memory. The declamatory
statements of how they were one of the few old bands to be prod to play this
kind of music was more a surface image to capture the attention of the young
crown but for those who know the true essence of "Battle in the North",
"Pure Holocaust" or "Diabolical Fullmoon Mysticism" it was
nothing but a lay, as it showed to be today. This split is the right and final
sentence to the second Immortal era, this one after the Demonaz departure and a
very bad manifesto for Abbath and Co. but at the end reality have take the scene
and in a short time nothing will remains of their last creations, the masses
will go elsewhere, so nothing to regret? The only things that I can’t stand is
how bands like this one and Darkthrone, Satyricon are doing and have done their
best in the last years to destroy all their credibility, but surely this will
not affect their albums and their past music, that will always remain something
pure and superb. The only thing is to understand the difference between the
periods and the band’s name and myths, few of those are able to cross the ages
and very few have the intelligence and honesty to stop when it become impossible
to keep the banner of excellence. In some way I can understand that it’s not
always possible to have such understanding. §
Emperor are the worst element of judgment in this case because they’re the
example of a band that have done superb and astonishing album and that got a
clear vision of their evolution, but surely they’re born to be a bit more
experimental so that everything become more difficult to deal..
As year passes more and more examples are possible to do…but the story usually is the same, a thing special turn to be normal, just listen to Funeral Mist and the madness of Salvation to understand how the most well known old names are far away from its evil excellence, just open your ears.
I hope that there will not be the any of those pathetic reunions like in the Thrash scene, I hope that finally now they will follow the way of dignity.
