INTERVIEW WITH PERISHED

(by Cernunnos)

1. Tell us something about your new release...
"Seid" is our latest album. We used the same studio as before; Skansen lyd in Trondheim. This album came out the way we wanted, musically and the artwork. The response has been very good.

2. Can you tell me about the norvegian extreme metal scene? Are there some interesting bands that you like?
I am not updated within all the scene, but there are always interesting bands around. Are you into 80's Heavy? TNT is reunited!

3. Where do you find the influence to play today this kind of epic, and nordic music when you can see bands as Satyricon have strongly changed?
We do our own thing. The influences come from a lot more than Black Metal or Metal in general. I think it's healthy for our music to get inspiration of music from a wide spectre. We can't follow other bands, but must go our own way.

4.  More than one of your members seem to be interested in death metal...how do you see this kind of music inside the perished concept and music?
Death Metal has always been a part of Perished. Especially musicwise, we feel like keeping the Death elements alive. This also to create the right atmosphere of Perished.

5. When you think about the dark misty atmosphere of your first 7'', what's your memory?
Oh yeah, the 7"... This was our first real release. We were a 4-piece act back then, and it was an interesting experience. The music and atmosphere on this recording is very special compared to the other Perished recordings. I think the record reflects Perished 1996, before we became 6 members.

6. Please, tell me something about the early days...when did you feel the necessity to play this music and how was the scene and the bands you were in contact?
Perished was forged in 1991, and has been progressing since then with touches of Death and Black Metal. The underground scene grew fast from the beginning of the 90's, and lots of bands came through the surface. This was before everybody had a computer and internet. After a while I got so many letters that I couldn't handle answering everone. I had good contact with several bands that are still going strong.

7. Can you tell me about the norvegian extreme metal scene? Are there some interesting bands that you like?

I am not updated within all the scene, but there are always interesting bands around. Are you into 80's Heavy? TNT is reunited!

8. Please, tell us, the process of songwriting to create a Perished song.
It usually start with guitar riffs and we build the songs from that. We are kind of picky and have refused quite a lot of material. Everybody in the band is involved in the making of the music in a democratic way. It works well.

9. Which is the congratulation that you would like to receive by your fans that have listened 'Seid'?
I hope the world receive "Seid" with open arms, this is so far the album we have worked most with. The response has been very good.

10. Would you like to come in Italy to play some gigs? Here you have many fans...
Really? I would love to perform in Italy. We will come to your land if we get the opportunity. Hail to all you Italian people!

11. Thank you Bahtyr for interview. Your last words to our readers...
I want to thank our fans for the support through the years and for the time to come, and thank you Paolo for this interview. Buy our records and strike now!!!
