Ajattara
are one of those band who can’t impress me to a certain level, remaining to a
level that isn’t sufficient to capture my attention outside that context, like
they made with the previous and also not impressive "Itse". Their
style is a death-black played with a dominant doomish rhythm, that’s not the
problem, what really bore me is the repetitive uninspired riffs that follow step
by step the listener in the ¾ of the release. The last two songs have in common
to be fortunately outside the general apathy, a bit remembering a rawer, less
melodic version of the Doom-Dark master Thy Serpent, Finnish are famous to work
with those patterns promoting excellent music but "Kuolema" remains
another fair result the will be covered by other sounds in a very quick time.
The problem is that probably their style is sometimes too minimalist and they
start to run around their-self too long, for me the best way to solve this maze
is to begin a new evolution with the sign of the last two songs.
