AND OCEANS - CYPHER
In some trendy zines
or sites this is the new dimension of extreme music, but in my ears "Cypher"
is an ordinary pseudo-extreme and modern release. When some people talk about
the term "extreme music" they usually lost the real meaning of that
word. When I think to a modern example of extreme futuristic metal album I
don’t think to the trendy and easy listening solutions of The Kovenant
"Animatronic" but to the harsh music of the Dodheimsgard "666
International" or the incredible Aborym first two albums. In this "Cypher"
There’s not any experimental sign but only some simple solution to give a
modern appearance to their sound.
In "Cypher" I don’t feel the rebel spirit, the madness of an
extreme band, there are some futuristic and modern keyboards but the usual
lack of inspiration on the guitars, the ordinary "zum-zum" on them,
is the dominant tune. If those guys think to be the new sensation of the
extreme music I say that they’re a weaker version of a sort of futuristic
new metal, not surely a post-black band.
It’s not a secret that this band have born to be a follower, with the debut
they tried to do a nicer version of the Dismal Euphony-Dimmu Borgir early
albums, then, after the decadence of that trend, they searched to evolve their
sound to not become obsolete, and this is another chapter of their search for
"glory..."but not surely for something to be proud.
