ASMEGIN - Hin Vordende Sod e So

Napalm Records

I’ve waited for ages to listen to this work by this band but I’m pleased that was worth the wait. Asmegin plays a sort of Folk inspired metal, there is a great use of classical instruments like Viola and acoustic guitars, growl and scream vocals alternated with clean and feminine ones. A thing that really impressed me is the great care for atmospheres that has been made by the band, they had been able to recreate an imaginary that I’ve found really moving, especially the third track "Huldradans - Hin Gronnkledde", I can imagine that speaks about the chant of the Huldra, an inhabitant of the underworld, that use to mesmerize men when they get lost in the forest to bring them in the lake where she lives…the myth of abduction is a recurring theme in the Norwegian Folklore. All the lyrics has been written by Lars Nedland (Solefald, Borknagar) and his brought to the clean vocals is simply fantastic, I think that is great his typical style of singing. An emotional album that goes really against the pathetic "modernist" trend of nowadays, a band that gives the rightful attention to atmospheres and ancient melodies, an album that speaks to your soul and spirit instead of a ridiculous tin’s cover. (who said The Kovenant and their bastard sons ?)
