ATROX - TERRESTRIALS
Atrox are a highly
discussed band 'cause of their conceptually extreme music, not on the sound that
sometimes is very clear but on the arrangements, the non-metal influences and
the female singer voice (the main and only singer), sometimes a bit too
oppressive. If those one are the most common accusations against that act I feel
free to take their defence, because "Terrestrials" is an excellent
work.
If you have a conservative extreme metal sensibility probably a band like this
of Fleurety isn't what you're look for, differently for the listener of
visionary, or emotive atmospheric music this album is something special, where a
very moderate presence of metal elements broken by calm and relaxed alienations.
Moments where the singer voice together with the rhythmic side are very complex
are interrupted by some floating journeys, reflections of periods of times that
are like stopped and extended in their essence. The artwork is like the music
very ambitious and in general it's audible and visible a clear psychedelic
influence of the Pink Floyd immense musical heritage. The atmosphere is really
unusual, if we take apart the fact that there are some distorted guitars "Terrestrials"
could probably be everything but not a metal album. The singer performance is
sometimes too prolix , but in some parts it's very positively weird and original,
after all it's one of the surprising thing of the music.
"Terrestrials" is not a simple choice but surely it owns qualities and
a sensation of originality, surely not an easy listening solution, but a
respectable music.
