ATROX-ORGASM
The madness is back, another album is procreated this time to disturb and keep under pressure the listener. The previous Atrox album is surely a masterpiece of avantgarde psychedelic metal and will always remain as something difficult to be repeated. “Orgasm” is different but in some way is surprising as this band have always showed to be, they prefer to never stagnate, trying to propose their hallucinated vision in different ways. This time guitars strongly take the field with a massive presence, they have a rhythmic prevalence and the visionary, shading riffs are more on the background. This album is made by contrast between those technical death metal riffs and the more emotive music played in the previous chapter. The main female singer is as usual superbly personal and original, after the first time I heard it now I can appreciate all the different sides of his evocative or absurd angles. The hysterical moment of the past discography is a bit moderated by a more compact songwriting and also the vocals have less extreme parts, that in the past where sometime a bit exaggerated so to not permit an harmonic listening, but always in the surprising and fresh way of playing that’s a trademark for this particular band. For all those who are looking for something different but for nothing compatible with the mainstream metal normality I can warmly suggest to give a chance to this so original kind of music played by Atrox. The artwork is as usual a spectacular thing, personally done by the singer with a strong ironic imagination, a chaos of distorted images and personalities representing one of the sure features of this band.
