Nordland
pt.2 or the neverding trip to Asa Bay ? The previous work of Quorthon drove me
totally crazy for it’s intensity and atmosphere, and to be honest it wasn’t
a work totally free of high and lows, but now this second Nordland is too much
for me, it’s like a kind of nordic "overdose" or more realisticly
the fact is that Nordland pt.2 is an ensemble of scraps from the sessions of
Nordland pt.1, this album is not really a crap but it sounds like Quorthon had
all the material in his hands for the two works and calibrated it for Nordland
1& 2, my opinion is that one Nordland was really enough just imagine to
listen to two hours of Nordland...an hard challenge to do not fall asleep! I
think that an album must have also the right length of time and in this case the
fact is that album is too long, speaking in terms of Nordland 1 & 2.
Yes, there are some really good songs but for me was better trying to get
together the best tracks from the two albums making only one recording and it
would be a masterpiece, so there aren’t some more words to spend on this work,
the production is the same, the keys also, there aren’t acoustic moments and
the Quorthon’s style of singing is the same, so if you cannot live without an
album relatively equal to the previous get it, if not you’ll live well the
same.
