BERSERK - From Celtiberian Woods

Berserk are one of many underground bands involved into the pagan extreme metal scene. Something symphonic and something ancient is recalled in their music. Prodution presents some lacks specially in the quality of the sounds and general mix. Berserk don't play an original kind of extreme metal, but some songs of this 'From Celtiberian Woods' sounds aggressive and show an intense ancient mood. The main negative aspect is the using of drum machine (bad sounds and bad programmed too) that ruins the pathos created by epic riffing guitar. There aren't good sounds of guitars and keyboards, but Berserk are able to recreate a kind of magic aura that lived into the ancient forest of Europe during the first centuries of Celtiberian domain. You'll find the winds of war that caress the biggest trees through the forest seen as natural temple in which the blood of enemy gives life to the sacrifices. Something slow and ethereal moments lead us into the quiet of these lands where every man can find the answers of his existence, answers coming by these sacred places. Berserk could increase the quality of their music in the future, actually they are far away from the right path to represent into a better way the forces of Nature through the extreme metal. 'From Celtiberian Woods' is suggested only to fans of epic - symphonic black and pagan metal, not a masterpiece but a quite good album.
