Calvarium is one of those bands done by members of well known underground killer acts, in this case we have a Behexen guitarist ("Rituale Satanum" rules!), the Satanic Warmaster (how to forgive this awesome band)drummer for what can be described as a Black Metal very well played with a strong productions that is very sharp but powerful, dark and strong, where the drums can kill with pride. The atmosphere is not surely left apart but it’s an important chapter, what I can immediately point is that Calvarium don’t need to amplify the melodic lines to capture the listener attention but they a very extreme banner without forgiving this other side. The artwork is not black and white but it capture a sense of desolation, where the rebellion gain an aesthetic vision of ancestral hate and nothing remains of the dust, the remains of what was and will never be. Ashes that bring the essence of a tormented existence obsessed by the evil side of life, this is what the obsessive and cruel expression of the Finnish band represents. This cd is a mid way for those who seek extreme music with a professional recording but remaining on the caves of Black Metal, on the tunnels of a dead humanity.
