DEVILYN
- The past against the future
Metal Mind Prod.
This
is not the new album from the legendary polish armada but a surprise to while
away the unceasing waiting of their
audience.
“The
past against the future” represents the account of thirteen years of hard
working and perseverance, rare materials that makes the happiness to the true
followers.
This
cd is divided in 3 important sides:1)”the rule” their first great demo of
1994(recorded under the name of CEREBRAL CONCUSSION)2)A 3 tracks promotional
record of 2000(with Inferno from Behemoth on drums as special guest) 3)bonus
material composed by a Carcass cover and the video of “Reborn in pain”.
“The
rule” was the first production from Devilyn, the result of passionful young
band ready to rise up from the underground,7 tracks of superb death metal in the
era of its major blossom, characterized by a real singular touch, various and
with deep sensible feelings making an interesting colorful sound lavished also
by a compositive intelligence, alternating atmospheres from the traditional
extreme sound to evocative fusion-jazz parts(the excellent instrumental “illusions”)
This
selfproduction permits to the band to sign their first deal with Listenable
records for the realization of two albums: the debut in 1996 the magnificent
“Anger” and then in 1998 “Reborn in pain” who definitively baptized them
as one of the most respected death metal reality.
A
lot of problems has stopped the Devilyn’s musical activity for a year but in
2000 they return recording a promo of three tracks to find a new deal, orphans
of their drummer they’ve asked to Inferno(Behemoth)to play all the parts in
fact this product shows an incredible destructive charge united with an immense
creativity and capacity creating 3 precious atomic pearls surrounded by great
musical structures totally perfect in each arrangement and astonishing
performances from Novy(vocals, bass)and the supreme ferox percussive drumming
from Inferno, the guitars are a little bit dirty of Morbid Angel (for me a vital
source of inspiration for thousand
bands) composing killing weaves of riffs .
After
the signing with Plastic head they release in 2001 that masterpiece called
“Artefact” the official last album from Devilyn the real manifest of
maturity characterized by its ancient flavour of melodies soaked in pain
building hypnotical parts enriched by a deep pathos, strange quality for a death
metal band, but I think there’s ever someone who opens new ways to mean and
play a kind of music too much abused and making it significate for some way
sterile.
The
final side is the Carcass cover “Heartwork” and the video “Reborn in pain”
this last one is a pleasant present for all their supporters!
And finally the past is gone, future is coming and Devilyn are still alive!
