I remember the first Dismal appearances as some interesting releases but nothing else, their music was always a research not yet ended with something missing, it was obvious and clear that they were one of the most promising gothic band in Italy and I have to say that "Rubino Liquido" is the bigger investment for this band, just see to the great opportunity that they have got recording that album in a professional studio working together with a real orchestra of 12 elements. The thing that immediately came to the attention is that fortunately Dismal have left behind the doom metal roots to go elsewhere following the atmosphere instead of the stereotypes. There isn’t the usual guitar base but a more sophisticated approach and vision, sometimes there are some very meditative parts played with a sorrowful piano, but what makes the thing interesting is more the dramatic feeling that this music emanates. The spoken and singed female vocals are surely a very inspired element, a talented performance. What are the lacks of this album and of Dismal to become what they probably will be? Still there are some pauses where the dramatic emotive involvement is a bit lost so there’s space to grow up in the future, an interesting peculiarity is the way they translate baroque echoes in their gothic creation, I think that Italy is a country with so many valuable element of historical musical marks of inspiration that they are in the right way. At the moment I have to report a very good work.
