FUNERAL - Tristesse 

Three songs for 39 minutes of despair, emptiness and a total heart-desolation, this band has really impressed me, the mood throughout the whole album is very slow and very very heavy...so slow that listening to it gives you the impression to walk very awfully in a putrid swamp trying to reach out but every step further is one more closer to your death. It can remind My Dying Bride but without the romantic or slightly gothic atmospheres, more closer in some cases to Paradise Lost’s Gothic. The production is a bit raw but fits very good the music and the voice is a growl so deep and penetrating...it seems that the singer is whispering to you the ceasing of your heartbeat. There are also some very atmospheric acoustic passages, I really hope to hear more from Funeral in the near future, if you like only super fast blast beats and brutality this album surely will make you what Funeral wants...to make you cut your wrists! Or if you are able to appreciate also heavy and slow atmospheres you’ll appreciate it very much.
