ILDJARN-1992-95

Northern Heriatge

One of the usual problems with Ildjarn has always been the availability of their release, so that Northern Heritage has well thought to release a sum of all their release to show abstracts of their unique hymns of barbaric Black Metal retrospective. Ildjarn are a particular band, for someone special, for others overrated. My idea is that for what they represent they play a music very difficult to be understood by the extreme crowd, surely a person with a strong metal music background will not understand their way to play harsh and without any attention to the rhythm, heaviness and things like that. One things is obvious, listening to those nihilistic acts inspired by the colder side of nature, the roots of Black Metal have something to deal with late early ’90 extreme revival but also many, many differences. The raw and harsh side of music is much more dramatic instead of triumphing, or differently is darkly destructive. So many times you’ve probably heard about the tragic emotions of the somber side of northern nature and this is one of the most ugly one, probably the one, just to have a picture of haw those visions can be true and in some way tasteless.

The selection of the songs are from all the discography, "Strenght and Hanger" "Forest Poetry", just to name some…all very representative. The mix is very professional instead of the surprising ends of some songs, like those in "Ildjarn" here the songs are well connected together and the running time is of a full-cd, about 80 minutes. This can be considered a very representative demonstration of the peculiarity of this extreme experience that is to listen to Ildjarn…not to mention only for the few.

Don’t except melodies but an ancient echo, strangling your hope with an obsessive recall to feeling not surely of human being.

Ild Vote 5/6
