KONKHRA "REALITY CHECK"

CODE666

The danish death-rollers are merciless returned! After their last bankruptcy releases they raise again in new life, with the legendary line-up on "Spit or swollow" they‘ve parcelled up the new kick in ass called "Reality check", a concentrate of aggressive structured very well kept by a compact recording sound and strong of their excellent ideas. Anders Lundemark and Co. Are starting the massacre with the rocky "Warmonger" retaking the speech interrupted on "Weed out the weak" with its riffs and the rythmics solid as cement in the best death’n roll tradition in Konkhra style.
This album emits the lost energies now refunded, arousing the enthusiasm with headbanging for all the time!
Massive mid-tempos alternated with fast-thrashy parts are giving the right appeal and different groovy influences are forming the skeleton of their compositions.
"The comin of (R) age" is a fantastic short instrumental part, with an arpeggio with a far arabian taste, opening the way to the acrimonious "Grapes of wrath" who brakes our brains with the intensity provided by the guitars rhythmically interlaced with the drumming creating the explosive formula. Konkhra wants to destroy definitively its listeners leaving them without breath with a song like "Day of the dog" an heavy thrash attack with no compromise, who lacerates the ears and sets on fire the spirits.
Now comes the conclusive track "The blackest of dawns" another instrumental song only with gloomy guitars playing the soundtrack of the last day of earth, demonstrating a band who’s not only on high volumes ever but gives some reflective moment inebrieting and surprising us for the deep feeling.
"Reality check" brings Konkhra over the pedestal for a long time lost, now retaken with blood and sweat....Welcome back!

VS REVIEW

Personally I don’t agree with Jonathan point of view, probably for Code666 the new Konkhra signing is another target, a new step, but personally for me they haven’t nothing of this label spirit, they’re another boring rhythmic death and roll combo, they album is probably well recorded and played, it shows a band with experience and a certain skill to play this music but it have nothing to do with extreme matters....differently I fell them as a very normal band for normal people...
I won’t be surprised if the music they play would be played in some Rock television because they have nothing to do with the real meaning of this zine... what I can say? This is just another American echo...
