MACTATUS - SUICIDE

It’s not a secret that after the gold age of symphonic black metal and gothic metal the bands that were part of the trend have started to lose their intensity and feeling. Mactauts never invented anything but they were a great symphonic Norwegian black metal band with two very good albums in their history, surely they gave an important contribute to an age where the Scandinavian symphonic darkness was ruling. "Suicide" is another son of this age of decadence for those bands, and it’s not a surprise that starting to be a follower and not a leader that band have turned to a death influence after the scene turned in the same direction. The result is a poor, boring hybrid of death-black metal with symphonic elements produced with a clear but soul-less recording, and I can’t understand what’s the meaning of that involution, there isn’t any logical or emotive link between the past and the present of the band. The strength of that band was to capture a visionary dark atmosphere, and I think that they haven’t the same skill to sound deathish, and it would be better to them to left that kind of music to the true devoted bands that there are around, playing that kind of extreme music with the right proud certificate and ability. The reality is that Mactatus left apart their identity, sad but true...
