MAR DE GRISES - THE TATTER DEMALION EXPRESS

When I read on the promotional letter that this band makes a sort of progressive doom where progressive stands for refined (and not that useless music that prog is) i was really interested, luckily the promotional one was right. I found this personal interpretation of Doom really personal and in a certain way new, maybe because of the "suspension" that is flowing through this particular style of music, in their meaning of doom i recognised some echoes of My Dying Bride regarding some guitar melodies as well as some death metal elements which luckily are just moments. The mood of this album is floating, to be more clear there are the typical slow and drawning doom atmospheres and some suspended moments like ambient music together with a huge personal interpretation of the band, nothing that can be considered a bastard son or a copy of other bands' style. An aspect that really surprised me is their nationality, they're from Chile and they're are totally aware and capable to make such style of music ,with a consistent personal approach that is totally out of the trends and is not a trying to copy something cold like Unholy that wouldn't be in their veins. Great band and a great album.
