MASSEMORD-SKOGEN KALLER

Norway is back for sure! So many time in those years I’ve heard from different sides how this scene become a pathetic transfiguration of the past but after the last Carpathian Forest release, Tsjuder continuity and this band we can easily talk of an healthy one. Massemord reminds me to the Carpathian Forest “Black Shining Leather” era because they have some moderate Black-Thrash influences, less than CF, a funereal attitude and a somber sound. The first song starts with a marching riff and then open the field to dark visions with the colder signs of northern attitude. The songs have their common elements but also their personality and differences, the drum performance is very intelligent, alternating more moderate parts to other fast where necessary. The recording is raw, harsh but well recorded so that there’s no need to listen carefully to capture the elements of this album. This release is surely a surprise, I never heard before of this underground act but it’s a pleasure to feel the northern phantom haunting back. It’s strange that an American label have released that one because of the quality of this album I ask why there have not been any continental interest…probably after the Norway invasion there’s a reaction…but here substance rules.
