MEGIDDO - THE ATAVISM OF EVIL

can’t say to be excited by this release, I can understand the Megiddo are
trying to keep alive the atavism of black metal, the Bathory "The Return..."
for instance, but their songs are too ordinary to light the flame of the coming
darkness of those years, the only albums that in this banner is able to really
impress me is Darkthrone’s "Panzerfraust", but this is more Celtic
Frost oriented.
The sound of "The Atavism..." is raw,
primitive, minimalist, but there isn’t the same vibration of the past,
everything sound too normal for me and compared to the Megiddo demo they’ve
lost much of their dark feeling. There are worst things around but this can’t
be more then a thing for nostalgic guys, but the roots of this music are
elsewhere in my idea of Black metal.
