MORTAL INTENTION - SIC LUCEAT LUX
When
I saw this album the first time I thought "Oh no another black or death
metal band with the usual dying Christ and blasphemy free for everyone !"
and their monicker was a bad omen: "Mortal Intention" forgive my
sincerity but it’s really horrible ! Listening to the first track you can say
"Ok, a death metal band on the Morbid Angel’s wave, nothing special ...
because if you want to play death metal today without being useless you need
great musicians and a more great production, the surprise came when I listened
to other songs...we are in front of a band with two or maybe three different
souls, one is death metal like I said before, the second is a slightly symphonic
black metal attitude and the third one is a Scandinavian death metal sound, the
typical "Gothenburg sound" to be more clear. It’s not a bad album at
all, personally I think that the style that fits better this band is the black
metal one, symphonic is an heavy term to use, atmospheric it’s more right,
also the singer gives his better on the scream vocals than on growls. I can say
nothing about the lyrics because they’re all in German, and I understand less
than nothing. Otherwise it’s interesting to listen to a band that play in this
three different ways, but the artwork and their logo...really horrible, but what
is more important is music and under this point of view Mortal Intention are not
bad, nothing less, nothing more, we will see what they’ll do next, maybe
something more interesting.
