NECRODEATH - Tones of Hate

Scarlet Records

Necrodeath are one of those bands who usually are considered legends by so many fans around and I will not strart to discuss about that thing, also because I’m not one of the greatest thrash fans, but speaking about this new album I’m trying to understand what’s their goal. Peso, the drummer of the band, usually recall the Slayer influence and this one can be surely heard but the meaning is something very different, today the American band is nothing but an ordinary crossover band, without any special feature, their name is more connected with the past, but one of the reasons of their excellence was the original ideas, an aggression inspired by their young age and a natural and spontaneous atmosphere, how "Reign in Blood" obviously show. "Tones of Hate" is a very different matter, the music is a quite moderate thrash metal that almost never take off remaining more on the standards. There are no grind and very fast parts, so that the result is too much controlled. The worst thing is that I’m not able to understand what was the target of this album but I fear that the declarations sometimes have very bad effect on the perspective, I mean Necrodeath are more moderate on their declaration because probably they’re more conscious of the limits of the genre that they’re actually playing, also because today death thrash have so many pathetic young guns around, the only thing I can suggest is to go back to the roots, for a more honest recording, trying to bring back a piece of the past madness. Today the play too polite for my taste.
