I
wasn’t hoping to ear again of those Viking but they’re finally back to
strike they bloody vengeance with pride, hanger, fury but fortunately keeping
with them their visionary and reflxeisive side. The only parallel that I can
dare to do is with the outstanding milestone "Vikinligr Veldri",
Perished haven’t forgotten their folkish roots and they come to the attention
there and there.
The debut was similar to the monumental "Shadowthrone" but this one
have some death metal injections but remaining in the pagan path. I will never
stop to say that they synth. parts of this band are the best that the genre can
express. The main role is played by a very powerful guitar base, a mixture of
the death heaviness and the still predominant sharpy and cold Black Metal
approach.
The band play very coordinated and the songs run away in a faster way compared
to those of the debut that was a bit more static. The great step that this band
have done is to acquire something from the death rhythmic variety without lose
the mystic and epically obscure inspiration of the early days. If Helheim have
totally lost their interested for the nostalgic Viking-era Perished are, without
sounding obsolete, its newer force, and this is a bit ironic, thinking to the
rather old history of this Norwegian band that is one of the second wave, that
immediately popped-up after the Mayhem Burzum revolution.
