RAGNAROK - IN NOMINE SATANAS
It's really sad that a
band with albums like "Arising realms" and "Diabolical Age"
in its history release a nothing but fair black metal music like that.
I have to wait for the sixth song to feel the typical Ragnarok quality, because
the first half is very near to the mediocrity. "Arising Realms" was
very influenced by the symphonic Norwegian wave, "Diabolical Age" much
more in your face, but with a strong and hellish production that "In Nomine
Satanas" totally lacks. The wild aggression of the previous work is far
away, some unusual riffs are so good, the speed is up-tempo but without the
capacity to hit the listener with the well known black metal sharpness, probably
because the guitars sound isn't so powerful, clear but not extreme. With "Diabolical
Age" Ragnarok showed Swedish influences and now those elements are more
present, almost predominant and after all the album is nothing that can change
my life, the new singer is a normal black screamer without the personal touch of
the previous one (Tyme)"simply"I appreciated them but now it's all so
ordinary that there isn't the same dark sensation of the past and for me that is
almost everything.
