SOLSTAFIR - I BLODI OG ANDA
This is a very particular period
for the scene because the majority of the bands that are raising aren’t mainly
in connection with the pagan-viking and ancient spirit of some famous act of the
past, differently from that raw and harsh trend, but here come back, after a
long silence, a band from Iceland dedicated to a very interesting form of
pagan-viking black metal, recorded in a very aggressive and cold way but with
two faces. The first one is the most extreme, more fast, with a strong black
reflection but without losing the inner mystery of the visionary side, in a more
traditional way if you think to Enslaved, but with a more progressive touch.
This side of Solstafir music come out with its clear influences on the second
side of this album, and after all the most interesting one. This time a world of
northern atmosphere suddenly come to my mind, not only in the typical way but in
a more hypnotic, like psychedelic distortion, a bit like Enslaved’s
Monumension tried to do, but with the unique Solfstafir style and personal
concept of melody.
In a very poor period for that music a voice has raised from the snow, in a
moment of silence, but its sound have created a dense fog, where to lose mind,
to travel away from the grey prison that losing blindness is trying to construct
around us, "I Blodi..." is another gate to smell the essence of
primordial forces, able to raise the fatal confusion, once again...
