SURTURS LOHE - VOR WALVATERS THRON
Christhunt is going to obsess me
this month, after the Nactfalke superb "Hail Victory Teutonia" the new
pagan opus is preformed by another great band and this time the concept is
elaborated with some obvious German folk influences. The mid-tempo epic feeling
is, inspired by the Bathory’s saga is alternate to the voice of the land, of
the majestic territory, places where the ancient myth can be summoned. It’s
not only a thing of pagan instruments but also of melodic lines there are played
in a very evocative and heathenish way, sometimes they remind me the early
Thuringia material, for some guitar lines and clean vocals but more in general,
as I was saying, it’s more a matter of strong conviction for the ancient
high-medieval roots of their country. The opener is the prelude to the immense
evocative power of "Nebelthroned Walder" and the closing song is a
masterpiece of pagan spirituality. There’s only a song where the black metal
riffing come clear and the result is very good, because the song acquire a
monumental atmosphere, there are only few moments whre the attention fall, but
almost immediately something happens. Every person interested in pagan inspired
metal is from me advised to listen to that band, it’s a source of purity in a
metal word that usually prefer to promote pumped up bands made by mindless
pathetic guys only thinking to head-bang and move, here there’s the solemnity
of a world that sadly is disappearing
