Finally
anther good new for the French label, filthy, sick, raw Black Metal, an
injection of the worst and degenerative essence, those are what Temple of Baal
glorify. The recording is there to increase the underground appeal and the
result is a very good Black hymn to the fallen spirits.
The first songs starts with a messy spit of evilness to turn a thrashy nostalgic
revival that show how strong and deep are the roots of that band, speaking about
consciousness I think that they have something that immediately show and
demonstrate how big is their distance from the newcomers.
The second song "Triumphing Blasphemy" follow the same evolution of
the previous, after a fast part here come a deadly ’80 surprise, excellent
song!!
The drummer is not the most devastating machine about the precision but his
ideas are an appreciable thing, giving the right support to that deadly poison.
I think that the fusion of early ’90 and a more ’80 oriented vein that is
often audible is a winning solution, I will never stop to say how if the
nostalgic listener need a real deja-vu musn’t search that experience in the
well-known names but in those few cults that like Temple of Baal are still
infesting in more isolated places.
The dark side of thrash-black metal is what TOP are keeping alive, as the
opening of "Slaves of the Beast" suggest, they have proven to be an
act to strongly respect if you’re on that path.
