THOR’S
HAMMER - THE FATE WORSE THAN DEATH
I
give to Thor’s Hammer this vote mainly for their continuity through the year
than for the fair quality of the release. This an album of black metal play in a
rough way, an old-style vision, the atmosphere is very similar to other
underground acts but there isn’t the vibration that some retro things have
showed me (Craft, Nargaroth for example), only the sixth song have captured my
attention, the others are less impressive, surely a prefer the great "May
the Hammer Smash the Cross", but this time this kind of black metal is less
ancient times inspired, only the last two songs remind me that phase of the
Thor’s Hammers’ history. I hope for them to be back in the future with a
release more adequate to their status, but my support goes to that primordial
act of darkness, Poland is become a promise land for that music and this band is
one of those who placed the roots in this country. A mention goes for the
tasteless cover, I understand the meaning but it haven’t any dark mood and
it’s more similar to an Hollywood’s poster.
