TROLLHEIM’S GROTT -  Bloodsoaked and Ill-fated

Woodcut Records

I’m writing this review knowing that it will be a ferocious versus with Ild, interesting challenge…so that’s the point, I think that Trollheim’s Grott is a good band (and I said good ! Do not misunderstood me ! Hehe), they play a kind of modern black/"death-thrash" in the vein of the last Dimmu Borgir’s work and acts like Malignant Eternal’s Alarm with a "Trollish" attitude. The whole album it’s not bad, very well produced and played, surely it’s not a masterpiece, but I found it more actual than the same boring albums that comes out every second nowadays and it has some very interesting points, the guitar riffs are too much rhythmic in some moments but we’re facing a really painstaking work and I really find great the frontman’s style of singing. To be totally honest I liked most their previous work that was less futuristic and has a more "ancient" mood as the title says "Bizzarre Troll Technology". The only thing that I find a bit controversial is the Trollsyndicate concept about this kind of Troll corps united for the death of the human race…I think that is made in a sort of ironic style I hope…
