It’s
a bit difficult to review a product like this, 16 tracks by 10 bands, this
promotional sampler is opened by two songs from the new "Affiliated with
the suffering" by Blood Red Throne, a powerful death metal assault very
well produced and a different sound than the previous "Monument Of Death",
there are less black metal elements and the voice is a very low growl, for me
that surely I’m not in the death metal kind these two songs sounded good, if
you like some death metal old-style just get it !
Now it’s time for Septic Flesh, oh what a band ! I’ve listened just these 2
songs from "Sumerian Demons" and they drove me totally crazy !
Listening to Septic Flesh is just like to enter the Tower of Confusion, trying
to label this genre is nearly impossible but I can define it like a Gothic metal
with a great taste for melody and atmospheres, definitely it’s like a trip
into the ancient Mesopotamia!
Subsequently we found two songs from the live album "And the Hordes Stood
As One" by Ancient Rites, they play an Heavy Metal with good impact and
these tracks prove that they’re a good live band but it’s not my cup of
tea...
Hearse is a band with the ex-Arch Enemy singer Johan Liiva , there are two
tracks from their debut "Dominion Reptilian" it’s death metal with
classic metal influences, if you like the old Arch Enemy stuff and the
particular voice of Liiva you’ll like it...
And now another highlight ! To be honest I found horrible the debut "Written
in Blood" by Soulreaper but these two songs from the upcoming "Life
Erazer" are something unbelievably great! For sure this work will kick the
ass of the whole death metal scene at the higher levels, technically very
impressive, the drummer is totally amazing and there are great riffs too, just
take Dissection and make it more evil, more aggressive and less melodic. With
this work coming out on the 2nd of June all the death metal freaks
around the world will have a reason to stop playing...just listen to Soulreaper
!
After this shocking assault we have two tracks from the upcoming debut "Reaping
The Worldwinds" by Dimension F3H, they play a particular genre in the vein
of S.y.l. with less industrial experimentations also the singer in some moments
reminds me Devin Townsend, but also they’ve implemented some Hard-Rock and
Heavy/Power Metal influences that I really do not like, but it’s original, a
strange mixture...
And finally there are 4 bonustracks, the firs is from Necrophobic old debut
album "The Nocturnal Silence", old style death metal how it must sound,
to go further we have Infernal with a song from their Ep called "Summon
Forth The Beast", a powerful and brutal black metal assault, I’ll wait to
hear the upcoming album that promises to sound very well...
Satariel is a band that plays a
mature melodic death metal and this song is from "Phobos and Deimos",
it’s a good song and sounds totally extreme! To come to an end the last track
is played by Impious, a strong band that plays a good death/thrash metal with
some introspective moments...just check it out, it’s promising...
Sephrenel
