Finally I’ve put my hands on this album, it was almost a year that I was waiting to ear it, I’ve to say that I found the previous Cosmic Genesis an album afflicted by a great lack of inspiration and too much "heavy metal" in some moments. Now the new album "The Focusing Blur" will be released in a couple of months and if the presuppose is Visions From The Spiral Generator it will be surely a godly work of art !! I found this album totally astonishing, certainly Vintersorg have lost its folk vibes, but he replaced it with a mix of extreme/prog/avantgarde/folk (slightly a bit) tunes, try to define it, it’s an hard challenge ! The entrance of Asgeir (Borknagar, Spiral Architecht, Lunaris) and Steve DiGiorgio (his work with the bass lines is great) in the line-up surely have helped to take the Vintersorg path to a more technical way but the true point of strongness of this album are the guitar riffs and the Vintersorg’s voice that has become more theatrical in some ways, listening to it is like a cosmic trip into a spiral together with floating space elements. It’s like if the evolution of Vintersorg have contaminated Borknagar and viceversa, I really hope that the quality of the proposal will be at least the same for the next works of both bands.
