WIGRID - HOFFNUNGSTOD
Talking about the band the mostly influenced the black metal scene Darkthrone is at the top and Burzum is at the bottom, leaving apart that they're all great bands, well differently from this tendency Wigrid are burzumish inspired. Their music clearly reminds to the sombre dramatic atmosphere of "Hvis Lyset Tar Oss" and the only composer of the band don't do nothing to take away from that way so that the music is not very varied but have the ability to summon dark landscapes where the listener is brought as an a sort of hypnotic state.
"Hoffnungstod" is a release for the few that still feel the needing for the raw, primitive and really dark aura of the early days of black metal, if you're searching for that Wigrid is a very serious solo-project, playing that kind of music with attitude but probably not too many will dare to travel another time in those dangerous places. After all a very good album the recalls ancient phantoms but alas they are probably gone away forever...
