YWOLF - Trilogy Of the Night

is the solo project of Gabriel Wolf by Finnugor, after listening to Black
Flame’s Finnugor I was expecting something terrible...fortunately I wasn’t
right, this project seems to be more "creative" and with a more "Dark"
atmosphere leaving that horrible Cradle of Filth style, the keys are played more
in a sophisticated style and according to the booklet were used a great variety
of classic instruments (in fact there isn’t a true guitar presence)...but the
sound of some of them makes me think that they are played thru the keyboard and
not by the original instrument itself, but who knows...probably it’s cause of
the production that is not so good, by a more "symphonic" project you
can expect a brilliant production because if it’s not that good this kind of
matter can affect very badly the music...
The female vocal presence is not over-abused, fortunately, and fits very well
the right moments, there isn’t a true screaming presence but more a whispering
and disturbing evil whispers, like a little demon on your shoulder talking in
you ears and also are more present clean vocals in a "spoken" way .
Listening to this work it’s like to enter an alienating tunnel, travelling
that thin line between dark and light, I can define it like a mesmerizing work
in some moments.
I found it very good with a good taste for music and dark atmospheres, but I’m
sorry that the production lacks something in the sound’s choice...one more
thing, and it’s also for Finnugor...the artwork is something horrible..
