SHINING
There’s something that differ a normal band from an extreme act, Shining is that, it’s something made by strong ideas and a music that goes beyond the weakness of the modern positive way of thinking, a knife that mutilate those form of lights, a grey vision that can annihilate all this illusion, keeping the listener in a total darkness, where only the smell of fear is around. This interview is a fist the in face of the actual god, not only the christian one... Interview by Diego "Ildanachh"
Angst
is for me another step in your extreme travel in grey territories of sadness,
disillusion, what there's behind that incredible album?
Extreme
decication I guess, apart from the necessary fanaticism dedication must be it,
and reality in a way…
Isn't
there a sort of claustrophobic fog around your music, like a tormented
surrounding also in you artwork ?
It could all be considered as an portrait of Kvarforth’s madness.
What's the concept of this album lyrics?
Basically everything that could be considered as negative, Hetro and Homo sexual
abuse, Paedophillia, Death, Murder, Suicide, Oppression, Drugs, Self-destruction
etc. but also minor things such as what happens all day long in your everyday
life. I believe I managed to portray the vision clearly this time, though not
good enough, but wait till our fourth album and you’ll see...
It's really strange because the best black metal bands of the actual
Sweden scene are your and Craft and you play a very depressive and sick form of
black metal, more linked to the Burzum atmosphere then to the typical strong
metal basis of your scene.do you like the typical Swedish black metal music
(DarkFuneral, Marduk) and do you think of your band to be part of the same music
or as I think there something very different? Sound-wise I consider
Shining to be a rock n’roll band using Black Metal, Blues and Pop as main
ingredients. One could perhaps consider Shining as Black N’Roll or something,
I do not know and to be perfectly honest with you I don’t care either.
Labelling is ignorant. I do not like the music of many Black Metal bands at all,
certainly not Marduk or Dark Funeral. For me, I cannot experience anything but
boredom by listening to such music. Bands like Craft, Ondskapt and Bloodline
should be praised for their music instead of all these mediocre crap-bands we
have in Sweden!
Do
you think that the misanthropic and suicide side of extreme metal is more
present in northern countries like Norway, Finland and Sweden 'cause of the
atmospheric and territorial influences?
I see not much misanthropy within Black Metal at all, it is just words people
use to sound cool it seems. Though I am myself an enemy of man to the very core,
I hate all living creatures, including animals and nature, basically all that
could be considered as life. But this misanthopy thing has been so washed that
it is considered as humane these days, all because of Black Metal and other
extreme sub-culturistic movements, thus the word has no meaning for me at all
anymore.
Music
and enjoyment.real black metal is very different from other genres, because this
relation is more complex.What are your feeling when you compose and arrange
Shining's music and what do you want to express?
I merely focus on enlightening the neagivity within everything that I am capable
of doing. Doing this music is for me certainly no enjoyment, I find it truly
unpleasant really, it makes me sick... Usually I create music and lyrics for
Shining under short moments of fanaticism and creativity which cross eachother
very soldomly, but when they do, we have 3-4 new songs ready. You know, I cannot
sit down and try making music for Shining, it has to come naturally, and such
moments appear every now and then, but as said, Shining is certainly nothing I
enjoy doing...
Do you use to listen to other metal and non metal music?
What I listen to isn’t important, though it ain’t much metal-based music at
all...
Do
you think to include a more extensive keyboards presence in the future.hasn't
been a wrong
campaign against them in the past, just for their use? When for you the suicide
is a positive option? Suicide
is certainly not an positive option! Neither is murder or any other things that
are glorified within Shining. Shining is the glorification of everything that is
negative within man, society, nature... all! If suicide would be considered as
an positive sollution than it does not lie within my interest to support it. If
people want to end their lives because they feel like shit then we have a
problem, people must suffer, if they want to die it should be the other way
around and vice versa. About keyboards, I do not give a slightest fuck about
what people may consider as "true" and "untrue" in any
matter whatsoever, If a keyborad can add illwill to Shining then be it! Not that
I am too found of this intrument though and that is probably the reason why we
haven’t used it more in the past, I am more into adding sounds and disturbing
noise instead of sweet, romantic bullshit (as most keyboeard oriented black
metal faggots do).
Hellhammer
played in your last album, do you consider him to be involved in the band
concept? Being
a tool, of course he is! The same goes for Phil A. Cirone, they both know
perfectly well what they are doing and what they are supporting and they do also
know perfectly well that thi is a serious matter and not the other way around,
so the answer should then be... Yes!
I
Now another
question about another famous black metal band, Darkthrone, aren 't they
becoming too normal as person and musician, haven't they lost their
magic.shouldn't they quit?
Fuck! I don’t care about them, just as I don’t care about other bands that I
am not working with either! I actually appreciated Darkthrone until they
released that horrible -Total Death- and if I’m not mistaking I heard another
new album with them as well and well... What could I say, it doesn’t appeal to
me at all...
