Macintosh system requirements: 68030, 68040 or PowerPC microprocessor with at least 8 Mb
of RAM (16 Mb is highly recommended) and 7 Mb of free disk space. System 7.5 or later is
required. Computers running 68030 or 68040 microprocessors must have 32-bit addressing turned on (as
specified in the Memory control panel).
Please, let us know if exists a more simple Java Virtual Machine for Macintosh instead to install all the MRJ SDK.
For Windows 95: You must INSTALL or UPGRADE
the Microsoft Java Virtual Machine; check your JVM version in this matter:
Verify the Properties of the C:\WINDOWS\JVIEW.EXE file; if you don't
have it you must INSTALL the JVM (see next).
On the Properties, click on the Version label, and see the first
code, the "File version:": if it's less that 4.79.xxxx you must UPGRADE
the JVM (see next).
Nothing you have to do for Windows 98 and Windows NT Systems, anyway
check if you have and the properties of the JVIEW.EXE file.
If you need the JVM, download the MSJAVX86.EXE file from:
If you want to try the Client, download one
of these files:
javaisis.zip for Windows 95/98/NT systems;
javaisis.sea.hqx for Macintosh systems;
javaisis.tar.gz for any Unix system;
If you want to try the Server, download one
of these files:
jserver.zip for Windows 95/98/NT systems;
jserver.tar.gz for any Unix system;
Uncompress the file; it will create a directory with name Javaisis.
Please use WINZIP or similar programs to avoid to truncate the extension
at 3 chrs (for Windows users only).
Execute the Client program in one of this matter:
goto into the Javaisis directory and then:
For Windows 95, 98 systems: double click on the Javaisis shortcut;
For Windows NT systems: double click on the NT-Javaisis shortcut
(verify the Target field into the ShortcutProperties);
For Macintosh system: drag the Javaisis.class icon over the JBindery application
located into the JBindery folder, then click on the Run button.
For any Unix system: in a Command window on any XWindow system type java
javaisis.
A window very similar to Winisis will appear; click on Database
and Open.
Click on TEST Server.
See on the right part of the window for the availble databases.
Use the program such as for Winisis.
Execute the Server program in one of this matter:
goto into the Javaisis\Server directory and then:
For Windows 95, 98 systems: double click on the IsisServer shortcut;
For Windows NT systems: double click on the NT-IsisServer shortcut
(verify the Target field into the ShortcutProperties,
because I have \WINNT on the D: drive);
For any Unix system: in a Command window on any XWindow system type java
IsisServer.
NOTE: the Serveris a limited version that works until
the end of August, 1999.NOTE: please check your CLASSPATH environment variable first to
use Javaisis.
In some cases you have to add the directory . to the CLASSPATH.
