March'99

February'03

March'04

I started with the two wheels when I was fourteen in my country Perú, where the use of the helmet was an optional (as in Greece); even if the law requests its use. My first (my aunt's) bike was an Honda 70cc. (Gold colour), then I use to ride an Honda XL250 silver colour with its famous tank drop shaped, so the bigger Honda XL350 (black and gold), then I came to Italy (where I live now) and the first thing I wanted to buy was the bike, but... showers !, storms!, snow !, ice !, cold weather !, what a hell is all this ? ? ? in Perú (Lima) the minimum winter temperature was 14°C, so riding all the year ! and... rains?, just some morning dew, and humidity, but in Italy was different, so better a car to start. After something more than a year... it was stronger than me, so Honda Dominator (February'92 red colour and second hand = not too much money) with 9000km and two years old (1990) was the best investment, then after 27000 km. (8000 km. of them in Greece) on its saddle, finally a serious bike, Honda Africa Twin (March'97 black and gold and brand new = at that time I had enough money) two cylinders again, less vibrations, excellent looking and fantastic behaviour on and off road, but then I started looking for some extra power, Dyno-Jet kit, K&N air filter, LASER Pro-D'Or exhaust and only some (8 to 12) extra HP, but in the meantime Honda, from where all my previous bikes were, was cooking the bike, yes ! There was finally a good two cylinders motor Honda VTR1000 . Then Honda announces and present at the INTERMOT in Münich the bike!, XL1000V "Varadero", the perfect combination of power and comfort, a bike that reaching the 4000 rpm in first drive shows you its charm closing its tank to your body, while the front wheel tries to reach the sky. Now after 24000 km on my lovely Africa Twin I'm a proud owner of a Varadero (February'99 brand new), and I'm really happy...
