Colm Meaney affiancato dal tarantiniano Michael Madsen , Juliette e Geoffrey Lewis , completa il cast di questa pellicola in cui ritroviamo con piacere anche il mitico ed intramontabile Ernest Borgnine , nei panni di uno sceriffo ridotto sulla sedia a rotelle, perché, come ironicamente ha asserito il regista: " Anche il western è negli ultimi anni finito sulla sedia a rotelle "
Infarcito di flashback e non privo di riferimenti a titoli di nostra produzione, tra i quali vale la pena di citare almeno I quattro dell'apocalisse (1975) del compianto Lucio Fulci , Blueberry ricorre a tutte le simbologie e gli argomenti classici del filone, dal serpente strisciante, all'aquila in volo, all'immagine del teschio sommerso dalla sabbia, senza dimenticare neppure il momento canoro, affidato a Juliette Lewis , e, nel tentativo di rendere più adatta alle generazioni moderne la vicenda, introduce il tema dello sciamanesimo
