Everybody agrees that William Shakespeare is one of the greatest playwrights the world has ever known. He lived in the 16th century, at the time of Queen Elizabeth I of England. In London theatres were built and people paid to see professional actors perform new plays. Shakespeare himself was a good actor, not only an excellent playwright. In 1585, at the age of 21, he left his native town and went to London. At first he worked outside the playhouses, attending to the horses of the spectators. He died on 23rd April 1616. There he was burried in Holy Trinity Church.

he was born in Stratford-Apon-Avon in 1564.He was the son of John Shakespear and Mary Arden. When he was eighteen, he married Anne Hathaway and had three children, one son Hamnet, and two daughters Susanna and Judith.
