2001-2002

Will KR be able to fly (or, at least, begin taxi test) before the end of the year?

(No, it won't, 18/12/01)

Some views of engine installation in progress.

GT Propellers (140 x 124, approx 55½" x 48¾") and GPAS spinner.

Trial installation of the engine cowling halves.

The oil cooler is too close to the fiberglass, and some blisters are needed.

MARC-Ingegno brake and wheel axle bolted to Diehl leg.

AIRTRAC tire and MARC-Ingegno wheel.

(Yes, one of the four bolts is missing)

Two views of the "nearly" completed fuselage: I have just to install the cowling fasteners, glass the turtledeck and complete tailplanes, the prime, sand, sand, sand, paint, sand sand, sand…

And, of course, a few dozens small things to do inside the fuselage.

Maybe she needs just half a gallon of Avgas to start purring.

Fitting fasteners to the cowling.

Happiness is a smoothly running engine.

Turtledeck (TD) floxed and held in place with pieces of wood.

Plywood being scarfed, to accept three fiberglass BID's.

Some more glassing, a few ounces of Supafil, and the fuselage looks quite better.

Three BID's of heavy choths being laid up to the interior of the cockpit.

Aft TD interior glassed with two BID's (9 oz.sq.yd)

(You can see trim cable on the left, and antenna RG.58 cable on the right)

Upper fairing cleckoed to the cowling.

Carburetor air scoop taped to the cowling.

Airscoop laid up (4 BID's) and cleckoed to the lower cowling.

After some layers of primer (4-5) it looks quite nice…

… but many, many sanding hours are still needed to be ready for painting.

2002

Un bell'anno palindromo, il meglio per far volare aeroplanini fatti in casa.

A nice symmetrical year, the best for homebuilt flight test.

Pompe per alzare il tettuccio.

Canopy lifting devices are in place

Revisione dell'installazione e messa a punto del motore GPASC

With a lot of help, the GPASC engine is checked and tuned.

Un'immagine dei bilancieri "nudi"

Nice view of naked pushrods

Completamento dell'interno del tettuccio con foam e vetroresina

Foam and fiberglass complete the canopy interior

Dopo i lavori di sistemazione, il motorino d'avviamento sporge dall'alto …

Engine starter protrudes out of the cowling …

… così è necessario fare un'altra carenatura.

… so another blister has to be built.

Bilanciamento dell'alettone destro.

Right aileron balancing.

Lo strobe in punta alla deriva. (Forse non è la migliore delle soluzioni!)

Strobe placed on top of the fin (Maybe not the best location)

E' iniziata la verniciatura (La foto comunque è una posa)

A slightly posed image to celebrate the beginning of spray painting.

REVFLOW carb worked pretty well, but I

preferred to test a Zenith too.
