Dire "Pucarà" è come dire "Guerra delle Falkland/Malvinas", un conflitto che vide questo velivolo intensamente utilizzato da parte degli Argentini, specialmente nelle fasi iniziali dell'invasione. Sviluppato in modo autonomo dall'industria aeronautica di quella nazione sviluppandolo dallo IA-50 Pulquì, il Pucarà è un tipico aereo antisommossa e per attacco al suolo molto simile, se non nell'aspetto sicuramente nella formula, al Rockwell OV-10 Bronco. Un'arma ritenuta sicuramente utile da parte del regime totalitario che fino agli anni Ottanta governò quella nazione. |

Say "Pucara" and you say "Falkland War". That's where this aircraft saw wide use during the Argentinian invasion that led to that conflict. This aircraft was developed by the Argentinian industry from the former IA-50 Pulquì as a typical counter-insurgency (COIN) and ground attack aircraft, rather close in capabilities to the Rockwell OV-10 Bronco. Undoubtedly an useful tool in the hands of the military regime that held the power in Argentina until early Eighties. |
| IL MODELLO
Questo è il kit vacuform, cioè stampato per termoformatura a vuoto, prodotto dalla britannica Rareplanes ed ha rappresentato la mia prima esperienza con questo tipo di realizzazioni. Per essere sincero, se questo modello da un verso mi ha convinto che per determinati soggetti conviene avere pazienza ed aspettare che esca qualche kit stampato ad iniezione, per altro verso mi ha fatto capire che tante volte, invece dei costosissimi modelli in resina oggi tanto in voga, si potrebbe tranquillamente realizzare un più onesto vacuform che, se opportunamente arricchito di particolari in metallo e fotoincisioni, non richiede poi un grande lavoro rispetto ai primi ma garantisce risultati estetici di tutto rispetto. |
MODEL
This is the vacuum-formed kit manufactured in the UK by Rareplanes and it has been my first experience in building vacuum-formed models. On one hand it convinced me that for some subjects it is better to sit and wait for an injection molded kit but on the other hand it let me understand that sometimes, instead of many of those superexpensive resin model kits, a cheaper vacuum-formed model would be far better, expecially if you fit it with white metal and photoetched parts, in order to obtain a first class model. |
