A Ridley Scott film, based on the novel 'Do androids dream of electric sheep' written by P.K.Dick
Freely inspired by the above mentioned book written by P.K.Dick, Blade Runner is one of my favourite films: the scene, the theme, the soundtrack and the structure make it a unique work, quite a prelude of the near future and wrapped in a 'noir' atmosphere. LOS ANGELES (2019): in a dark and disturbing scenario we encounter Rick Deckard (H.Ford), who has the mission, together with other BLADE RUNNER Units, to chase the replicants NEXUS 6.
This particular kind of ROBOT, physically similar to the man and very close to him even for its intelligence, was used in the spatial colonies for hard and dangerous jobs. Soon after a bloody revolt exploded in an extraterrestrial colony, the NEXUS 6 was declared illegal on the earth and their killing was authorized in case of tracing. Deckard has the task to locate a group of replicants who came back to the earth with the aim to compel their creator to alter their initial genetic code that condemns them to death after four years life.
This film was initially a flop at the box-office but, year after year, has become a cult-movie and offered many hints to the literature, to the cinema and to some new tendencies. At the same time Blade Runner is important for its themes and for the questions asked to a science more and more engaged in the field of Robots projecting and of genetic manipulation: '....Man has made his match....Now it's his problem.'
If you like the film It could be interesting for you to approach P.K.Dick starting from the links indicated: a talented author, a visionary and an almost prophetic creator of an imaginary world. In his great production of novels and tales he describes the possibility for our civilisation and for the human condition to have a catastrophic development: wars, destructions, the cancellation of the individual by means of the mechanisms of social control.......The history of these years has probably corrected the direction of a route that seemed to lead us towards a destiny of inevitable decline but the existing balance is not completely stable.
In order to understand where we are and which is our direction we can ask some help to the capacity to reflect on our time and to imagine the future of an author like P.K.Dick, since we live in a reality that changes at an unexpected speed and, frequently, in such a way that we can not realize it.
