Scotland:
nostalgia
and landscape ![]()
This photograph is a view of the Culloden moor, near Inverness, where, in 1746, the supporters of Stuart monarchy were defeated by the Hannover army. This historic battle signalled for Scotland the beginning of great political and social changes marked by a progressive loss of indipendence towards England. Therefore, in a country with wide spaces a great meadow under the open sky has become a national monument and the symbol of a recovered historic and cultural identity.
