Since many years, OBE (Out-of-the Body Experiences) are often debated not only in parapsychology but also in psychology and psychiatry. As it is known, it seems that in OBE the centre of conscience of an individual occupies an external position respect to the material body. Often, during the sleeping, the individual has the feeling of "floating" in the air near the physical body and is able to see it from the outside. In other cases the individual has the sensation to do a journey towards far places.

In nearest times, particular experiences called NDE (Near-Death-Experiences), in which people find in peril of life, in unconscience state during surgical operations, deep coma, breath and cardiac arrest, have been focused by researchers. During these situations, the individual feels as a part of himself suddenly came off from the physical body, floating in the surrounding in the site of the accident or in the operating table, observing what is happening. When came back in the real world, the individual can describe with precision what he has seen. In this paper Giulio Caratelli, after describing some cases of OBE and NDE, debates about the interpretation of such experiences from the medical, psychological and parapsychological point of view.
